Happy 4th of July!!

I want to wish everyone a happy 4th of July! I hope everybody is staying safe and doing their own fireworks at home safely or remembering to practice social distancing and frequent hand washing to stay safe from COVID-19! I speak with so many inmates via phone, mail, & email I hear the same thing, there's so many inmates they know of coming down with COVID-19. I have one lady  I correspond with in Florida that actually has COVID-19, recovered & felt a lot better, only to come down with it again. What she told me was she was in a dorm with about 18 other women many of whom are sick or have symptoms of the virus but won't say anything for fear they're going to be on lockdown even longer. Now I found that scary and tragic. This also tells me that the prison system had no plan to implication a plan In the event that an epidemic or a pandemic would break out. As a R.N., I find this very disturbing. Our nation's prisons are a total failure they are not doing anything but maybe protecting the public somewhat from some of the more violent prisoners. I have a feeling that there's a lot more violent people out here that just don't get caught because they're too slick. That is my own personal thoughts, there's way too many unsolved murders to get me to believe otherwise.
And contrary to popular belief, I do not believe in freeing all prisoners. I would find that kind of a folly of an idea if anyone did. However, I do believe in Rehabilitation of all inmates because it is possible even the worst of the worst could improve with proper rehabilitation. May not be that probable but it is possible. A lot of these people may no longer be violent. And if you think not, just think about yourself 10,15, 20, even 30 years ago. You've hopefully changed over those decades; I know I sure have. Some for the better and some for the worse, however,r I have changed dramatically and I'm sure that most people have at least in some respect. The people in prison are no different, they change. I've heard plenty of inmates tell me they are sorry for what they did and they're not even completely sure why they did it, except at the time they were on drugs or drunk or just stupid. A true story, so please don't listen to all those false things they say about inmates like; they all say they're innocent, or they all lie, or they're all disrespectful ,they're all going to ask you for money. None of that is true.
So, as another 4th of July Independence Day passes, I will say this… I do believe that there's an awful lot of innocent people behind bars that need to be able to live out here among us again and have their independence. And I think there is a lot of people that were guilty of being criminals at one time or having criminal behavior that are no longer a threat and could reside among the brave and the free just fine. If you are thinking about contacting an inmate and you want some help in finding one that will write you back and will be a pleasant experience, don't hesitate to contact me. I thank you so much for reading this and God bless you, have a wonderful holiday weekend!

Musiings after years of writing many inmates

The more inmates i encounter, the more i realize just how broken our system is, and even worse....how broken so many families & individuals are in this country.  It really saddens me.  Although, i have had my fair shares of problems & hard times, i have always had solid, caring, loving parents & family behind me.  Most of the inmates i correspond with do not.  What might i have become, had i not been born to the parents i have?  And what might i have raised up as my child?  My daughter & I have so many blessings & so much to be grateful for...thanks to the wonderful parents i have been given.  As i continue to work on myself, hopefully i can pass some of that learning on to my inmates.  But it must be said, much learning...much knowledge has come to me through them.  I cannot express enough how it is a two-way street when you write to an inmate.  What they give back to you is golden, if you can humble yourself enough to listen.

What can be learned from an inmate.  Well, these people have lost everything.  They have literally nothing.  And yet, something bright & shiny, that no man can take away from them, shines through.  The beautiful soul, given by God.  The hope for a better future.  The faith that binds the souls collectively, of those that find God.  For when all is lost, a person only has God to depend on.  Humility, humanity, and Love for those that reach out for it.  The ability to not be judgemental.  Not all have this...many are lost like sheep.  But many do find God.  And those are the ones i call "The Beautiful People".

Remember, Jesus commanded us to visit those in jail.  If we are Christian, it is our duty to visit or write to those incarcerated.  Jesus said, what we do for the least of society, we do directly for him.  Providing a letter to a lonely inmate is like giving them a treasure.  For rare is the person willing to let their guard down & put their judgement aside & share their life with an inmate.  Receiving a letter from an inmate is like a bar of gold.  It's value cannot really be expressed in terms of money.  I encourage everyone to write to an inmate.  It will truly better & enrich your life....if you let it.

Peace & love be upon all you that read this.  Remember, you do not have to be perfect, you need only try to better yourself each day.

I haven't blogged for a long time my apologies. Figured it was time to start blogging again. I'm really excited to add a couple of new inmates one from Texas and one from Arizona to my list of letter writing and the newsletter. I am hoping 2020 is going to be a great year and that we're going to see a lot of case reversals, a reduction in inmates being sentenced to long term, more intervention for drug abuse, And most important a moratorium on the death penalty . That said I have exciting news, Melissa Lucio in Texas had her case reversed in the 5th Circuit Court of appeals and the state of Texas is appealing that, but we're waiting on the decision right now. And the other exciting thing is that a lady I write on Oregon death row, who is the sole death row Inmate in that state for the ladies  and her name is Angela McNulty  and she had a rotten deal as well and she has been granted a new trial, so that's exciting to me.  Melissa was not allowed to present any defense experts, her prosecutor is sitting in federal prison for 15 years for racketeering and taking bribes so he's not too nice of a fellow and I think that all his cases should be closely looked at to make sure that they don't deserve a new trial because he had the way he cheated and falsified court documents.
Today I'm just working on some letters and trying to get some ideas for a February newsletter.Coming up I have to call entel productions and they are planning on shooting a documentary about shawna f0rdwho is on Arizona death row and i'm not sure why they want me to call but I'm getting ready to find that out and the other exciting thing is that we're working on putting a podcast together about shawna Ford,  i'm not sure when that will air but that is in the works.
I wish each one of you light love peace God bless you all Amen

Revision to my post entitled "The Footprints" posted August 30, 2015

This revision is made in regards to the late Mr. James Chron, of the Dallas police/sheriff dept.

In my post, i decided to allow my lifelong dislike & even hatred of police & other authority figures to influence me.  Luckily for me, i have grown up a little bit since then.  I had decided to pick on Mr. Chron's education or lack there of to say he was not qualified to look at & compare some footprints left at the Routier crime scene on June 6, 1996.
No, he's not a forensic podiatrist.  I have since learned, his method of evaluating the prints are used across America.  And accepted in courts across America.  Routier's lawyers did not object nor did they chose to hire a forensic podiatrist. It has never been brought up on any of her appeals.  Mr. Crohn's education has never been questioned on appeal.  Matter closed for me.  And i apologize to anyone i may have offended.

These are the faces of the women the USA has murdered in the name of Justice during modern times. The images of these women and the look on their faces haunt my thoughts. Each has her own unique story to tell of how she got to death row. Twisted stories of abuse, poverty, mental illness, drugs & alcohol, often convoluted beyond belief. Corrupt court systems, overburdened & under payed public defenders, often mislead juries, evidence that was withheld or even fabricated. Women cut off by society & isolated in barren cells. Failed by society as children & then locked away & forgotten as adults. God doesnt make JUNK, people are not throw away.  We as a society must do better.  We must learn forgiveness and not seek revenge.  We must look to the source of the problem and not just eliminate the symptom.  no more killings....we have had enough.....

Exciting update on 2 of my FL DR ladies

I am so excited to announce both Emilia Carr and Tiffany Cole have been commuted to life and taken off DR at the largest women's prison in the USA, Lowell, Ocala, FL.  This is huge and they are 2 of 3 women commuted to life in the last year due to a FL ruling concerning judges overruling  jury's that give Life recommendations and giving Death sentences instead.  This whole ruling makes me very happy as the Judges should not be able to overrule what a jury recommends.  No woman has been put to death in FL since Aileen Wornos and i am hopeful none ever will.   I am praying both Tina and Margaret are commuted to life as well.
